Sharjah University Hospital achieves recovery rates in intensive care units that exceed international rates

During the first quarter of 2022, the University Hospital in Sharjah received many critical cases and infections with the Corona virus in patients over the age of 70, and it was able to achieve success rates that exceed the global average rates in intensive care units.
“The death rate was 1.73% of the admitted cases in general, including COVID-19 cases. As for the very critical cases, the death rates among them were expected to reach 61.31% according to the “SAPSII Score” global criterion.” Said Dr. Mamoun Al Zubair, Senior Consultant of Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital in Sharjah.
He added, “The medical staff at the University Hospital in Sharjah was able, through the use of modern technologies, to follow up critical cases and treat patients with corona virus infection until death rates reached 21.75%, in general, while the death rate from severe cases of corona virus represented 26.61% of the total very critical cases according to the “SAPSII Score” criterion, This has qualified us to receive complex cases referred from governmental and private hospitals and deal with them with quality standards and health technologies”.
“We offer special importance for developing services, we are on the track in developing intensive care departments, as they have proven their efficiency in providing distinguished services to citizens and residents in times of crisis.
